Frequent Questions

Is Black Friday the best time to buy a mattress?

Black Friday is synonymous with the best deals of the year. It used to be a tradition for people to line up at early hours to get the best deals of the year. Luckily, online shopping has made Black Friday shopping much more convenient. This is true when it comes to mattress shopping, as well. The last big sales weekend of the year, Black Friday weekend is a great time to save big on your next mattress.

When do Black Friday mattress sales start?

While start dates vary from company to company, most retailers start honoring Black Friday prices on Thanksgiving.

Some retailers even run “sneak peek” Black Friday sales the weekend before Thanksgiving.

How long does the Black Friday mattress sale last?

Black Friday sales can last as little as one hour for some companies. Some retailers do tiered promotions, whereas others run one promotion from Thanksgiving night to the following Saturday.

Generally speaking, Black Friday promotions run until midnight on Friday.

How much does a good mattress cost?

If you’ve done any mattress shopping, you probably know prices vary. Some mattresses go for under $1000, while others have ticket prices as high as $7000+.

It’s harder than you think to provide an average cost of a good mattress. You’d need to consider profile height, layers used, inches of layers, density of layers, the type of technology being used (memory foam tends to cost more than non-memory foam), the length of the warranty, sleep trial, and more.

As a general guideline, look for features such as warranty, length of the sleep trial, and price. For anything below $1000 (in a queen size), try to gauge the quality through online reviews. For anything above $2000, inspect the product to ensure the mattress is worth the extra cost.

What is the best mattress of 2024?

A Black Friday deal is only a deal if you get a quality product. Saving 70% on a subpar product isn’t a great deal at all, especially if you are now stuck with a mattress that isn’t comfortable or supportive.

What is comfortable for one person may not be suitable for another. Some customers prefer a rock-hard mattress, while others like a soft, contouring feel.

This is why Amerisleep makes five different mattresses designed for different types of sleepers.

In our Firm Collection, we have the Amerisleep AS1 and the Amerisleep AS2. These mattresses are great for stomach and back sleepers.

In our Soft Collection, we have the Amerisleep AS3, the Amerisleep AS4, and the Amerisleep AS5. The AS4 and AS5 are the softest mattresses and offer more contouring than the other models, making them great for side sleepers.

Right in the middle, we have the Amerisleep AS3. Our most popular mattress, the Amerisleep AS3 is our choice for the best mattress of 2024. It uses three inches of pressure-relieving foam to keep you from tossing and turning, and two inches of the Affinity layer, which uses HIVE® technology to support your spine and lower back. Beneath those layers, it has a sturdy seven-inch core, which allows us to provide an industry-leading 20-year warranty.

What is the best memory foam mattress?

Memory foam is slowly becoming the most popular mattress technology on the market. What used to be hot, toxic, and expensive can now be made to be cool, eco-friendly, and affordable.

The best memory foam mattress for you will depend on several factors, such as your weight, shape, and firmness preference.

When looking for a quality memory foam mattress, take time to inspect the details such as materials used, ILD (this is how we measure firmness), and density (this is how we measure support).

Innerspring mattresses are usually made with a pillow top comfort layer and steel coils in the base. The pillow top doesn’t typically resist sagging since it’s only supported by coils, which respond to weight individually instead of evenly. This results in dents or sags in the mattress surface. Innersprings are bouncier and slightly firmer than memory foam beds. Innersprings have the shortest lifespans of any mattress (about 5 years).

Hybrid mattresses strike a good balance between foam and innerspring beds, but they still come with the risk of sagging. Hybrids are often made with wrapped coils, reducing motion transfer, and extra layers of foam for better contouring. Hybrid mattresses feel slightly more firm than most memory foam beds. Their lifespan is longer than that of innersprings but not as long as memory foam.

Memory foam’s durability is bested only by latex foam. Latex foam feels similar to memory foam, but because it’s made from the sap of rubber trees, it withstands pressure and compression for much longer— the average lifespan of latex mattresses is 15 years. However, latex is quite expensive and so it’s not within every budget. Latex beds feel slightly more bouncy and firmer than most memory foam models.

Memory foam is the best budget-friendly, contouring option for most sleepers. What’s more, most memory foam beds come in a variety of firmness options, so no matter your sleeping position, you can find the best bed for a good night’s sleep.

Most brands offer a few different firmness options— Amerisleep has five mattress models to accommodate every sleeping position. Those who sleep on their sides are most likely to enjoy a medium mattress, such as the AS3. A medium mattress offers the perfect balance of softness and support. Back and stomach sleepers need a firm mattress, such as the AS1 or AS2. Some brands market their firm beds as “luxury firm”— but how can you know exactly how that feels? You can get a clearer understanding of the firmness level by checking the ILD rating.

The ILD rating measures how much weight the top foam layers of a mattress can withstand before sagging to a depth of 25% of the mattress thickness. The higher the ILD rating, the firmer the mattress. If you can’t find the ILD rating of a mattress, look for a simpler firmness scale that measures firmness from 1-10. Most companies use this to showcase the firmness of their beds— a one is extremely soft, and a ten is extremely firm. Most mattresses fall between a 3-8 on this scale.

We like our Bio-Pur® memory foam because it uses plant-based materials to create a soft, supportive, eco-friendly foam that relieves pressure points.

It has an ILD of 10 (making it pretty soft) but a density of 4.0 PCF, making it very supportive while still maintaining breathability.

How do I know it’s time for a new mattress?

Most mattresses last anywhere from 5-10 years, but it depends on the mattress type. If you’ve been sleeping on an innerspring for the past few years and you’re beginning to notice sags, it may be time to trade it in for a different mattress type.

No matter which type of mattress you’re sleeping on, if you wake up with aches, stiffness, or pain, your bed could be to blame. Try sleeping on a different mattress for one night and see if your sleep quality improves— if it does, it’s probably time for a new bed. Shopping the Black Friday Sales is a great time to get a good deal on a high-quality bed.

What if I miss the Black Friday Sale?

No need to fret— if you slept on a Black Friday deal, most companies offer Cyber Monday mattress deals as well, including Amerisleep. Check back on the Monday following Thanksgiving for further promotions.

What are the best Black Friday mattress deals?

It can be tricky to discern between a truly good deal and a simple marketing tactic. Additionally, just because a mattress is on sale doesn’t mean you should buy it. Ask yourself if you’d still buy the bed at full price— if the answer is no, move on to a different model.

How can you tell a mattress is really worth the cost? Look at the material and layer composition as well as the company’s warranty. The industry standard for mattresses is a 10-year warranty, and since high-quality memory foam lasts at least 7-8 years, a warranty this length should cover you. However, longer warranties are worth looking at because they give you a little more protection. In short, you take less of a risk purchasing a bed with a longer-lasting, more comprehensive warranty.

Mattresses marketed as “soft” are typically made with more plush comfort layers. These lower-density foams break down quicker unless they are supported by a high-density base foam. Amerisleep can offer a generous 20-year warranty thanks to the Bio-Core® foam in all of its mattresses, which maintains an even sleeping surface and deters sagging for as long as you use it.

Medium, medium-firm, and firm memory foam beds will contain fewer soft foams (compared to “soft” mattresses), but they should all still have some kind of high-density, sturdy core. In hybrid or innerspring mattresses, the core is always made of steel coils. Unless the coils are wrapped in fabric or foam, they are more likely to break down quickly— that’s why innerspring and hybrid mattresses have a shorter lifespan than memory foam beds.

Be wary of “buy one get one” mattress deals or doorbusters often offered at brick and mortar stores— usually the free mattress is cheaply made and won’t last long. Other deals are worth looking into, like a free box spring with the purchase of the mattress (all innerspring beds need a box spring, but memory foam mattresses do not).

Are there Black Friday deals on other sleep accessories?

Maybe you’re not in the market for a new mattress, but you’re looking for accessories to enhance your sleep experience, like an adjustable bed base, sheets, pillows, or a mattress protector.

Amerisleep offers their adjustable base in a bed package— you can buy a mattress and an adjustable base at a discounted price. You don’t need a box spring with any Amerisleep mattress, so once you have a base and a mattress to go with it, you’re set! Adjustable beds are a great investment for anyone looking to customize their sleep even more; they allow you to adjust your posture for better circulation, muscle recovery, and reduced risk of snoring.

Most mattress brands that sell sleep accessories offer some kind of Black Friday discount on these products as well (sheets, mattress protectors, pillows, toppers, and more).

Do I still get a sleep trial if I get my mattress on sale?

Most bed in a box brands always offer a risk-free sleep trial with your mattress purchase— that includes mattresses that go on sale for Black Friday. Amerisleep offers a 100-night sleep trial and free shipping to the contiguous 48 states.

Free delivery and free returns make your shopping experience hassle-free. There’s no worrying about transporting your mattress from a store to your house; you just have to unpack it once it gets to your door and let it expand.

Do Black Friday sales apply to all mattress sizes?

Unless specified by the company website, almost all Black Friday promos apply to every size mattress. The most popular and versatile size is the queen mattress, so that’s usually the price a company will advertise on the front page. If you’re unsure about the applicability of the discount, try and use the code for each size to make sure it works.

When are the best mattress sales of the year?

Even the top mattresses go on sale during certain big sale weekends. Black Friday is one of the biggest sale weekends, but you can find deals during the following holidays as well:
