Tempurpedic vs. Memory Foam

Claims that Tempurpedic is the only “true” Memory Foam product are simply not true.

There are a number of alternate-brand products that are composed of the same NASA-inspired technology. Each company uses its own foam recipe; however the end product has more similarity than difference when considering Tempurpedic with a higher-end Memory Foam product.

Probably the most notable difference between the Tempurpedic brand and other quality Memory Foam products is price. In some cases, quality Memory Foam mattresses that are comparable to Tempurpedic can be purchased at deep discounts – even half the price of Tempurpedic.

Of course, not all Memory Foam brands are made from quality materials so brand does matter and cheap does not equate to better when it comes to Memory Foam.

Higher density foam has more support and cushion and achieves a tighter contour to the body to evenly distribute body weight and relieve pressure points. It will rebound to the original shape once weight is removed. Another quality of Tempurpedic, and other quality Memory Foams, is that these products soften slower as warmed by body heat and rebound slower to the mattresses original state when returned to a cooled state.

A quality Memory Foam mattress is heralded by users for providing that “floating” feeling that is a crowning trait of the technology. Cheaper Memory Foam mattresses – that have a less dense cell structures – may give the alternate sensations of “sinking” or “bottoming out.”

Durability is also maximized with denser Memory Foam products. Some cheaper versions may wear out within a few years while Memory Foam is sustained for a longer period.
