Customers looking for their next mattress will encounter soft, cool lighting and a selection of eight different models when they walk into Amerisleep’s League City Mattress Store on Baybrook Mall’s first level. We’re open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Sundays from noon until 6 p.m.

While we give shoppers the freedom to explore on their own and try out our mattresses, our on-hand staff is more than happy to answer any questions about our products or sleep in general. Every employee is a certified sleep expert through the Spencer Institute and trained to answer questions about sleep health.

Mattress Sizes Available in League City

Mattress size is an important consideration when choosing a new bed. If you buy something too small, you won’t have enough room to get comfortable. But if you buy something too big, it may make your bedroom feel cramped.

To make the shopping process easier, we break down each mattress size and who they’re recommended for below.

Twin

Dimensions: 38 inches by 75 inches
A twin size mattress is a compact size that suits children and adults under 6 feet tall. It’s a good choice for a child’s first mattress but is also well-suited for young adults living on their own in a small apartment.

Twin XL

Dimensions 38 inches by 80 inches
A twin XL size mattress is 5 inches longer than a standard twin, making it the more comfortable choice for people over 6 feet tall. A twin XL mattress is often the bed of choice for a college dormitory because it can suit most single sleepers without taking up too much floor space. Similarly, many small guest rooms contain a twin XL mattress to provide comfort for a wide range of body types.

Full

Dimensions: 54 inches by 75 inches
A full size mattress is excellent for single sleepers, offering a good amount of sleeping space without taking up too much room space. Full mattresses are also sometimes sold under the label of “double bed.” However, despite this name, we only recommend full mattresses for single sleepers since half of a full size bed is 11 inches narrower than a traditional twin bed.

Queen

Dimensions: 60 inches by 80 inches
A queen size mattress is the smallest size recommended for couples, though it’s also a good choice for single sleepers who want a spacious mattress. A queen size bed is small enough to fit in an average bedroom, leaving plenty of space for other furniture and walkway paths. Many excellent queen mattresses are also highly affordable, making them a good choice for budget shoppers who want a larger bed.

King

Dimensions: 76 inches by 80 inches
A king size mattress is the widest standard mattress size and offers the largest sleeping surface. Couples who want to share a bed without sleeping packed together will enjoy the space a king mattress offers. There’s even room for parents to share the bed with a young child occasionally.

California King

Dimensions: 72 inches by 84 inches
A California king size mattress is the longest size offered, keeping tall sleepers over 6 feet from feeling cramped and confined in their bed. It’s 4 inches longer than a traditional king mattress, with the trade-off that it’s also 4 inches narrower. As with a standard king bed, a California king mattress fits best in a large master bedroom.

Split King

Dimensions: Two halves measuring 38 inches by 80 inches, totaling 76 inches by 80 inches
Split king size mattresses are excellent for two people who want to share a bed without compromising on their sleep preferences. For example, a side sleeper can lie on a soft half while a stomach sleeper lies on a firm half. Many people also pair a split king size mattress with an adjustable base, giving each person the freedom to raise and lower their half without affecting their partner’s side.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you buy a box spring from the Amerisleep League City mattress store?

No, we do not sell box springs because they cannot provide the support that our mattresses require. Box springs were designed to make traditional innerspring mattresses more comfortable and durable, not to provide the consistent support that a heavier memory foam or hybrid mattress needs. The space between a box spring’s inner coils provides plenty of room for one of our mattress to dip between the coils, compromising the bed’s comfort and support.

Can you flip a hybrid mattress from the Amerisleep League City mattress store?

We do not recommend flipping any of our mattresses, regardless of what type they are. If you do flip our hybrid mattress, not only will you risk ruining your bed’s comfort layer, but you will also be sleeping on the hybrid’s stiff and uncomfortable base layer.

Plus, we use durable, supportive materials in our mattresses to ensure they do not need to be flipped or rotated to stay in good condition.

Is it better to sleep on a hard or soft mattress from the Amerisleep League City mattress store?

Whether a hard or soft mattress is better for you depends on your sleeping style and body type. Firm mattresses are usually a good choice for stomach and back sleepers and people who weigh more than 230 pounds. Soft mattresses are better for side sleepers and people under 130 pounds.

The majority of people can sleep fine on a medium feel mattress, which is a big part of why our AS3 model is our biggest seller.

Why do mattresses sag?

Mattresses can sag because of poor materials and defective construction or a person’s body weight placing stress in one particular spot year after year. However, the most likely reason a well-made mattress sags is because it’s not properly supported.

Foam mattresses and hybrid mattresses need a surface with consistent support that leaves little to no gaps for sagging. A slatted foundation is a good choice because it allows air to circulate through the mattress, but the slats should be no more than 3 inches apart.

Do memory foam mattresses smell?

It isn’t unusual for new memory foam mattress owners to notice a chemical smell after they’ve unboxed their bed, regardless of what brand they purchase. The smell occurs through a process known as off-gassing, where volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from production break down at room temperature. The smell typically lingers a few days at most before vanishing.

It’s impossible to make a memory foam mattress without using VOCs during production. However, we minimize off-gassing effects with our CertiPUR-US® certified foams. CertiPUR-US® verifies that a foam’s production process is free of potentially harmful materials and contains only low amounts of VOCs.
