"My husband was quite skeptical about buying a mattress unseen but I was impressed with the details and reviews so we decided to try it. The very first morning after our first night's sleep he said he liked it! My back took about a week to adjust but after that I liked it too. I like very much that it does not have an off-gassing of chemicals like most mattresses do. Plus it does not sleep hot like the other memory foams do. I'm very glad we bought it."

Tom Ferrantre

"I have purchased (2) AS3 mattresses. One is a Queen the other is a Twin size. We love these mattresses. They are comfortable and no more back aches in the morning. With so many choices for bed-in-a-box mattresses I picked Amerisleep because I liked the fact that they use environmentally friendly materials have a mattress cover that helps your body. I liked the first one so much that I purchased a second one. I recommend that you try it for yourself. And if you don't like it you can return it, but I doubt that you will because you will love it."

Laura Poole

"Best sleep of my life. These mattresses are a little more than the other bed in a box mattresses but it was so worth the extra money. The website helps you pick the mattress that is best for you based on how you sleep. It was spot on. I usually have trouble as a side sleeper because my hips and knees hurt from the pressure, but not with this bed. It is just firm enough but also soft enough for the mattress to hug your body a little. I love my mattress and recommend Amerisleep to everyone I know. Customer service over the phone was awesome too, the mattress came earlier than expected, right to my front door."

Anthony Rajchel

“Amerisleep has changed the way I sleep. I wake up refreshed every morning and can’t wait to get back into bed to sleep the next night away. Paired with my weighted blanket I sleep with unmatched comfort. My dog loves it too!! Thanks Amerisleep!!"

Lalo Gutierrez

"I bought the AS3 and it is wonderful. Keeps me cool at night and very comfortable. I get to sleep a lot better than ever. Great mattress!"

Mattress Sizes in the Southampton

Mattress size is an important consideration when choosing a new bed. If you buy something too small, you won’t have enough room to get comfortable. But if you buy something too big, it may make your bedroom feel cramped.

To make the shopping process easier, we break down each mattress size and who they’re recommended for below.

Twin Size Mattress

Dimensions: 38 inches by 75 inches
A twin size mattress is often the first bed we sleep on after leaving our cribs behind. Even as we grow up, we may not outgrow our love of a twin mattress, which are good beds for small living areas.

Twin XL Size Mattress

Dimensions 38 inches by 80 inches
Parents anticipating their teenager’s growth might buy their child a twin XL mattress instead of a smaller twin bed. A twin XL mattress is also a good choice for tall sleepers who want to stretch out without their legs hanging off the mattress.

Full Size Mattress

Dimensions: 54 inches by 75 inches
A full size mattress is good for people with smaller bedrooms who want an expansive mattress. There’s plenty of room to roll about and sprawl while sleeping. We only recommend full beds for solo sleepers. Though it’s only 6 inches narrower than a queen, that difference is often keenly felt when two people try to share a full size mattress.

Queen Size Mattress

Dimensions: 60 inches by 80 inches
A queen size mattress is a well-balanced size. It‘s suitable and affordable for couples and luxuriously spacious for single sleepers. An average size bedroom that’s about 10 feet by 10 feet can comfortably accommodate a queen bed.

King Size Mattress

Dimensions: 76 inches by 80 inches
King size mattresses are large enough for two people to sleep together yet have plenty of space between them. However, their size also provides a couple of drawbacks—they’re heavy and work best in big master bedrooms.

California King Size Mattress

Dimensions: 72 inches by 84 inches
A California king mattress is the height of luxury when it comes to tall sleepers because it’s the longest size. While most people will fit fine on a standard king, people over 6 feet tall might find that their feet dangle over the edge. The extra 4 inches of length give tall people much-appreciated legroom.

Split King Size Mattress

Dimensions: Two halves measuring 38 inches by 80 inches, totaling 76 inches by 80 inches
A split king size mattress is perfect for couples with conflicting firmness preferences or an adjustable bed. Each half can be personalized with a different feel, allowing people with incompatible sleeping styles to share a mattress. When used with an adjustable bed, partners can raise their half independently. One person can sit up while the other lies flat, for example.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use any mattress from the Amerisleep Southampton mattress store with an adjustable bed?

Yes, all of our mattresses are designed to flex with an adjustable bed’s movements. The best mattresses for an adjustable base move and bend with the base’s parts, allowing you to raise the mattress without damaging it. Foam mattresses are a good choice because their materials fold well while the feel remains unaffected.

What are the pros and cons of an adjustable bed from Amerisleep’s mattress store near Southampton?

We offer two adjustable bed models, the entry-level Adjustable Bed and the more advanced Adjustable Bed+. Both offer similar benefits, although the Adjustable Bed+ has a few added features.

You can raise the mattress’s head with either base to control snoring, sleep apnea, and acid reflux symptoms. Similarly, raising the mattress’s foot can ease symptoms of edema, Restless Leg Syndrome, diabetes, and high blood pressure. People who find it difficult to move, such as arthritis sufferers, may find mornings are easier when they use the base to sit up before getting out of bed.

Most people decide against an adjustable bed because of its high price. It’s common for an adjustable base to cost over $1,000, so people who don’t need a base to soothe a medical condition may choose an inexpensive foundation instead.

What type of bed is best for a side sleeper with back pain at the Amerisleep mattress store Southampton?

Side sleepers with back pain often benefit from a supportive mattress with a medium feel. Softer mattresses can allow a person’s shoulders and hips to sink in too far, while a too-firm mattress can cause pressure to build up in a side sleeper’s body. Medium mattresses like our AS3 models strike the right balance between cushion and support.

Is a box spring better than slats?

When it comes to memory foam and hybrid mattresses like those we make, no, a box spring is not better than slats. The internal coils inside a box spring are too far apart to create consistent support, with the gaps leaving room for the mattress to sink between coils. Using a box spring with a foam mattress typically voids its warranty because the bed is more likely to lose its shape.

Slats are an excellent support system because they create a stable surface while leaving room for air to flow through the mattress and wick away heat and moisture. For the best support, there should be no more than 3 inches of space between each slat.

Does sitting up in bed ruin a mattress?

Sitting for long periods won’t necessarily ruin a mattress, but mattresses also weren’t designed to be used as seats — a mattress is meant to distribute and support the weight of a person lying down. Sitting up can concentrate your weight in one spot, increasing wear and tear.

If you want to maximize your bed’s lifespan, it’s best to avoid using it as a chair. However, sitting up in bed now and then isn’t going to destroy your mattress.

Why do you need a mattress protector?

Strictly speaking, you don’t need a mattress protector. However, it’s never a bad idea to use one because it keeps external factors such as pests, allergens, and moisture from damaging your mattress. With a mattress protector, your bed is likely to last longer than you expected.
